IMPORTANT NOTE: Some of our carriers are giving leniency with insurance payments. If they are out of work due to the coronavirus/ shutdown and they are having trouble making their regular scheduled insurance payment, they should call their insurance agent to discuss payment options.

Small Business Information:

As there is an abundance of information already available in relation to the coronavirus guidelines, below are some links for small business resources that you may find useful as we work together to overcome the economic challenges of this unprecedented event.

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) offers working capital loans that could be of assistance to businesses impacted by COVID-19. Resources and information will be posted to http://dced.pa.gov/resources as they become available.

The U.S. Small Business Administration, in addition to local funding partners, may also be a source of assistance for affected businesses.  Currently, we’re waiting for the Senate to pass an Emergency Coronavirus Bill package.

The National Main Street Center is also compiling information that’s available to the public.

Updates to these and other resources will be posted to the Pennsylvania Downtown Center (PDC) webpage.

Transportation (Road Closures/Mass Transit)

  • Chescobus: Full operations currently, but monitoring ridership throughout the day. Vehicles are cleaned at night after the last run. Route modifications in place at the VA Medical Center. The Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC) offices are closed and staff is working remotely.
  • Rover: Continuing essential transportation services in accordance with the recommendations from the Governor’s Office, PennDOT, Department of Health and Chester County officials. Transportation services for life-sustaining services, medical appointments/doctor’s office visits, and other essential trips such as the grocery store are currently being provided.
  • Amtrak:
    • Northeast Corridor, Keystone Service, Amtrak Hartford and Valley Flyer: Effective Monday, March 16th through Sunday, March 29 will run the typical Saturday schedule on a daily basis.
  • SEPTA:
    • Service will operate on a normal weekday schedule today: March 16, 2020.
  • PA Turnpike:
    • The following service plazas on I-76 have limited services until March 27:
      • Valley Forge Service Plaza, located eastbound in Chester County at milepost 324.6.
      • Peter J. Camiel Service Plaza, westbound in Chester County at milepost 304.
    • Not accepting cash at any interchange statewide beginning at 8 p.m. on March 16, 2020.

Utilities

  • Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) put into place an emergency order prohibiting electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, telecommunication and steam utility terminations, as long as the Proclamation of Disaster (issued by Gov. Tom Wolf on March 6 related to the Coronavirus) is in effect.

  • Chester County Government
    Chester County government is operating essential services with many employees working remotely. The Chester County Emergency Operations Center is operating a split operation between the primary EOC at the Government Services Center and Public Safety Training Campus.
  • Chester County School Districts
    All K-12 schools in Chester County are closed until March 30 by order of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf (enacted on March 15, 2020).
